Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

We collect the information you provide directly, such as your email address, profile details, and the financial information you enter (income, bills, account balances, goals, and transactions). If you choose to link a bank account, we receive read-only account and transaction data through our secure integration partner.

2. How we use your information

• Provide personalized spending guidance and goal tracking.
• Calculate safe-to-spend amounts, upcoming bills, and cash-flow projections.
• Send optional coaching notifications and account-related messages.
• Improve and secure the service.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate Maica, such as our cloud infrastructure and banking integration partner, and only as needed to perform those services. We may also disclose information if required by law.

4. Connecting your bank through Plaid

Maica uses Plaid Inc. ("Plaid") to connect your financial accounts. When you choose to link an account, you are directed to Plaid Link, where you enter your credentials directly with Plaid — Maica never sees or stores your bank username or password.

By connecting an account, you grant Maica and Plaid the right, power, and authority to access and transmit your personal and financial information from your financial institution, in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy. Plaid collects and uses that information as described in its own policies, and Maica does not control Plaid's practices.

Information Plaid may collect and share with Maica includes:

• Account identifiers, account names, types, and institution details.
• Balances, transactions, merchant names, categories, and dates.
• Recurring income and bill streams derived from your transaction history.
• Account owner details provided by your institution, such as name and email.

We use this data only to power the features you asked for — cash-flow and safe-to-spend calculations, bill and income detection, spending insights, destination progress, and guidance from your AI Guide. We do not sell it or use it for advertising.

You may withdraw this consent at any time by unlinking the institution in Settings or in Accounts. Unlinking revokes Maica's Plaid access token immediately and stops further data collection. You can also delete your account entirely, which removes your stored financial data as described below.

5. Data retention

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete my account, or by emailing us), we hard-delete your profile, financial records, linked institutions, Plaid access tokens, coaching history, and MFA factors from our active systems. Closed-account records are removed within 30 days. Plaid access tokens are deleted immediately when you unlink an institution or close your account. Encrypted backups age out within 7 days. Authentication and audit logs are retained on a 12-month rolling window. Support correspondence is retained for 24 months. 6. Your choices

You can update your information in the app, disconnect linked bank accounts at any time, and permanently delete your account from Settings → Delete my account. You may also email us to request access, correction, or deletion; we respond within 30 days.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

Maica is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the app.
